Cut Copy: "In Ghost Colours"

I think the 80's pop sound is back with a vengeance. Only a little more refined and a little less cheesy. I find it absolutely brilliant. I dig the electropop genera that is growing strong.

Cut Copy, an Aussie band, is one of those bands that seem like their root are firmly planted in the years they were born - i.e. the 1980's. Maybe they are reclaiming their roots. I don't know. But I know that I could totally dance to this. I love that guitar riff.

Peace.

Francis and the Lights: "The Top", "My Goals"

The music of Francis and the Lights may border on such guilty pleasures as Prince, Peter Gabriel, or Michael Jackson, but I am not sure of it yet. What is certain is that I am captivated by two tracks by this band - "The Top" and "My Goals." Their catchy beats mixed with the high falsetto vocals of their lead singer, Francis Farewell Starlite, has got me hooked. Plus the video for "the Top" is just captivating.

Sufjan Stevens: "To Be Alone With You"

This song utterly captivates me every time I hear it. I can't pull my self away from it. I just stop close my eyes... and then there are no words for what this song makes me feel.

Glasvegas: Geraldine

Here is a band to watch out for.  They have taken that classic 1950's rock and roll sound and given it a modern edge.  The sound on this recording isn't great, but it's good enough to get the idea.  I give you Glasvegas.

Aqualung: If I Fall

My friend Brian really deserves the credit for this one.  He recently introduced me to Aqualung (Thanks man!).  As for Aqualung being a band, it actually is not one.  It is the name of the music that Matt Hales creates.  Matt said he was tired of being in bands and all that, and all I can tell you is that he is a pretty darn good song writer.  His stuff reminds me of many of my other favorite UK bands.  So, as an introduction to Aqualung, here is a simple little song from filled with smooth harmonies and that "in a warm cloud" feeling you get from a lot of those bands from cold climates.

If you have time check out Aqualung on myspace music, I particularly like the song "On my Knees" that you can find there.
